TECHNICAL NOTE (97002)

Summary: Installing APM & POWER.EXE with QEMM 7.03
Date: September 29, 1995
Product: As listed
Additional Information: None.

When installing QEMM 7.03 on systems which support APM in the BIOS, it is important to be sure that the POWER.EXE device driver is loaded in CONFIG.SYS. Lack of the POWER.EXE driver will cause the Toshiba power saving features to be disabled (Display Auto Off, HDD Auto Off, etc.) You will also need to exclude the memory area used by the power saving features and Resume.

T386.EXE (available from the Toshiba BBS and Toshiba CompuServe Forum) is still required for systems which support the Pop-Up Window.

Below is an example CONFIG.SYS from a T3400CT:

DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM X=E800-EFFF

DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QDPMI.SYS SWAPFILE=DPMI.SWP SWAPSIZE=1024 BUFFERS=10,0

FILES=60

DOS=UMB

LASTDRIVE=E

FCBS=4,0

DOS=HIGH

DEVICE=C:\DOS\POWER.EXE

STACKS=9,256

SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM C:\DOS\ /P /E:2048

Here is a additional CONFIG.SYS using Stealth mode and Doublespace:

DEVICE=C:\QEMM\DOSDATA.SYS

DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM X=E800-EFFF ST:F DBF=2 R:1 I=B000-B7FF
