An ANSI escape sequence is a series of characters, beginning with an escape character, that you can use to define functions for MS-DOS. Using some of those function we can
easily change the background and text colour.
Those functions can only be accessed if the ANSI.SYS driver has been loaded in the CONFIG.SYS file (Device=ANSI.SYS) The function used as an example here is called "Set Graphic Rendition"
Example: PROMPT $P$G$E[44M For a Blue background
PROMPT $P$G$E[33M For a Yellow Foreground
PROMPT $P$P$E[44;33M For both of them.
The syntax is: PROMPT $E[#;....;#M Where # must be one of the following:
1 High Intensity
4 Underscore 5 Blink On 7 Reverse Video On 8 Invisible 30 Black Foreground 31 Red Foreground 32 Green Foreground 33 Yellow Foreground 34 Blue Foreground 35 Magnenta Foreground |
36 Cyan Foreground
