Product: USE OF ANSI.SYS DRIVERS

An ANSI escape sequence is a series of characters, beginning with an escape character, that you can use to define functions for MS-DOS. Using some of those function we can

easily change the background and text colour.

Those functions can only be accessed if the ANSI.SYS driver has been loaded in the CONFIG.SYS file (Device=ANSI.SYS) The function used as an example here is called "Set Graphic Rendition"

Example: PROMPT $P$G$E[44M For a Blue background

PROMPT $P$G$E[33M For a Yellow Foreground

PROMPT $P$P$E[44;33M For both of them.

The syntax is: PROMPT $E[#;....;#M Where # must be one of the following:

1 High Intensity

4 Underscore

5 Blink On

7 Reverse Video On

8 Invisible

30 Black Foreground

31 Red Foreground

32 Green Foreground

33 Yellow Foreground

34 Blue Foreground

35 Magnenta Foreground

36 Cyan Foreground

37 White Foreground

40 Black Background

41 Red Background

42 Green Background

43 Yellow Background

45 Magnenta Background

46 Cyan Background

47 White Background
