The Toshiba Specials Enhancements Package, Version 2 (TSEP62 release 3.1) will update an installation of MS-DOS 6.2, adding Special Enhancements for complete compatibility with Toshiba proprietary features. NOTE: Without the Toshiba Special Enhancements Program, MS-DOS 6.2 will not properly install or operate. The model of Toshiba computer that TSEP62 is to be installed on must be supported by release 3.1 of TSEP62 and must already have MS-DOS 6.2 or the MS-DOS 6.2 step-up package installed on it.

If you now have MS-DOS 6.0 and the Toshiba Special Enhancements for MS-DOS 6.0 installed on your system, you will need to run the TSED release for MS-DOS 6.0 to remove those enhancements before you will be able to use the Microsoft MS-DOS 6.2 step-up product.

If your system came with MS-DOS 6.0 and Toshiba's enhancements preinstalled, and if the MS-DOS and Toshiba Special Enhancements disk set hasn't been generated yet, you will need to run Master Diskette Creator to make that disk set at this time.

To run Master Diskette Creator enter "MDC" from the \IMG directory at a DOS prompt or double-click the Master Diskette Creator icon in Windows' Toshiba Utilities program group. Select the option to create diskettes for MS-DOS 6.0 and the Toshiba Special Enhancements diskette. Once you have generated the Special Enhancements diskette, you can execute SETUP on that diskette and select the option to uninstall the enhancements for MS-DOS 6.0. Once that is done, install Microsoft's MS-DOS 6.2 step-up package followed by release 3.1 of Toshiba Special Enhancements for MS-DOS 6.2 (TSEP62).

1. The file can be downloaded as TSEP62.EXE from the `Toshiba Software' library (LIB 2).

3. Installation of TSEP62 for MS-DOS 6.2 requires that the Microsoft
MS-DOS 6.2 step-up package first be installed. If you don't already have a copy of this software package you can download it from CompuServe. To download the MS-DOS 6.2 step-up package enter "GO MSDOS62" at the CIS prompt. The English version is a 1,338,496 byte download.

4a. If you now have MS-DOS 6.0 and the Toshiba Special Enhancements for MS-DOS 6.0 installed on your system, you will need to run the TSED for MS-DOS 6.0 SETUP program to remove those enhancements before you will be able to use Microsoft's MS-DOS 6.2 step-up product.

4b. If your system came with MS-DOS 6.0 and Toshiba's enhancements preinstalled, and if the MS-DOS and Toshiba Special Enhancements disk set hasn't been generated yet, then you will need to run Master Diskette Creator to make that disk set at this time.

4c. In any case, if you do not have and cannot generate an MS-DOS 6.0 TSED in order to remove the Toshiba Enhancements from MS-DOS 6.0 for any reason, you can download TSED2.EXE from the `Toshiba Software' library to create that diskette.

STEP #1

Insert Toshiba DOS 6.0 Disk 4 into drive A: Type A:\setup, Press enter. You will see a screen that says Toshiba Special Enhancements Diskette. Toward the bottom of your screen you will see a Box Titled Main Menu. Inside this box it should read UNINSTALL TOSHIBA ENHANCEMENTS. At this point press enter.

Step #2

You will be prompted for where the Toshiba Enhancements are located. This is in the DOS sub directory unless you placed them elsewhere. By default the dialog box will display C:\DOS, Again you will just press enter if this is correct and wait for the dialog box that reads

SETUP IS NOW COMPLETE.

PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE.

Then you would press any key. You will be prompted to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. (You must exit windows if you ran the DISK 4 Setup from there, and remove DISK 4 Then restart your computer. )

STEP #3

After you have restarted your computer insert the first disk of your
MS-DOS 6.2 Step-up and type A:\setup. Continue installing MS-DOS 6.2, Then go on to the next step.

STEP #4

When you have completed your MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade, insert the TSEP DISK you created into your A: and type A:setup. The next screen that appears will be the welcome to setup, and a main menu dialog box at the bottom of the screen that says INSTALL TOSHIBA ENHANCEMENTS. Press enter and you will be prompted to verify the path to your MS-DOS sub directory ( The default is C:\DOS ). If the default is correct press enter.

This will complete the installation of the Toshiba Special Enhancements Package for MS-DOS 6.2. You must reboot your computer after the installation is complete for the enhancements to take effect.
