Reconfiguration Guide
Your Toshiba T3600CT notebook computer comes with software pre-installed on the hard drive. In the event you need to reinstall your software, the following information can be used as a guideline to reconfigure your computer to its original factory setup.
NOTE:To reconfigure your computer, you must create master diskettes of the pre-installed software using the Master Disk Creator program. To run Master Disk Creator, double-click the Master Disk Creator icon in the Toshiba Utilities group. Please see the T3600CT Reference Manual for more information on using Master Disk Creator. If you are unable to create these master diskettes, please contact Toshiba Product Support at (800)9994273.
Install MS-DOS and Toshiba MS-DOS Programs
The following sections provide instructions for installing MS-DOS and Toshiba MS-DOS programs from the master diskettes you created using Master Disk Creator.
Install MS-DOS
To install MS-DOS, follow these steps:
1Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the MS-DOS Install diskette.
2Restart your computer by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del.
3When prompted for information, choose the default settings and let MS-DOS do the install.
MS-DOS prompts you for diskette changes and tells you when the installation is complete.
Install Toshiba Special Enhancements
The MS-DOS enhancements aid in the activation of your Toshiba computer's special features. To install special enhancements, follow these steps:
1Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Toshiba Special Enhancements diskette.
2At the system prompt (c:\>>), type a:setup and press Enter.
3When prompted for information, choose the default settings.
Setup copies the Toshiba MS-DOS enhancement files onto your hard drive.
Install Toshiba Companion Programs
To install the Toshiba companion programs, follow these steps:
1Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Toshiba Companion diskette.
2Restart your computer by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del.
3Follow the menus to install the Utilities and Files from the Toshiba Companion diskette.
4When the installation is complete, choose Exit to DOS and press Enter.
Install Windows and Windows Programs
The following sections provide instructions for installing Microsoft® Windows for Workgroups and Windows programs from the master diskettes you created using Master Disk Creator.
The Microsoft Windows for Workgroups documentation contains complete instructions for running the Windows Setup program.
Run Windows Setup
To run Windows Setup, follow these steps:
1Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Windows for Workgroups 3.11 Disk 1/Setup diskette.
2At the system prompt (c:\>>), type a:setup and press Enter.
3Setup installs the Windows files, automatically prompts you to insert subsequent diskettes, determines a configuration appropriate for your computer, and loads Windows.
Install the AccuPoint Driver
To install the AccuPoint driver, follow these steps:
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Logitech Mouse diskette.
3Select Run... from the File menu in Program Manager.
Windows displays the Run dialog box.
4In the command line field, type a:install and press Enter.
Install the Advanced Display Driver
Toshiba has provided advanced Microsoft Windows for Workgroups display drivers for the T3600CT. These drivers provide, depending on the driver selected, 256 color support, high resolution support, and Windows graphics acceleration.
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Double-click the Windows Setup icon in the Main window.
Setup displays the Windows Setup dialog box.
3Choose Change System Settings from the Options menu.
Setup opens the Change System Settings dialog box.
4If the Display list box isn't highlighted, press the tab key or use the pointing device to highlight it.
5Press the down arrow key to scroll through the list of display drivers until Other is highlighted.
6Press Enter.
Setup prompts you to insert the display driver diskette.
7Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Toshiba Windows Advanced Display Drivers diskette.
8Make sure the highlighted default path is a:\ and click OK or press Enter.
Setup displays a list of display drivers.
9Highlight Toshiba W3.1 T3600CT resolution color where resolution is the desired screen resolution and color is the maximum number of colors the driver can display. Select only the driver for your specific computer.
10Press Enter.
Windows Setup may prompt you to insert the display driver diskette again. If it does, repeat step 8.
11Restart Windows for all changes to take effect.
Install Toshiba Windows Utilities
To install the Toshiba Windows Utilities, follow these steps:
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Toshiba Windows Utilities diskette.
3Select Run... from the File menu in Program Manager.
Windows displays the Run dialog box.
4In the command line field, type a:setup and press Enter.
Setup loads the Toshiba Windows Utilities.
Install Online Documentation
To install online documentation, follow these steps:
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Online Reference diskette.
3Select Run... from the File menu in Program Manager.
Windows displays the Run dialog box.
4In the command line field, type a:install and press Enter.
The installation program installs the online documentation on your hard drive.
5Restart your computer by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del.
Run CommWorks for Windows Setup
To run CommWorks for Windows Setup, follow these steps:
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the CommWorks for Windows diskette.
3Select Run... from the File menu in Program Manager.
Windows displays the Run dialog box.
4In the command line field, type a:setup and press Enter.
Setup loads CommWorks for Windows. Refer to the CommWorks for Windows User's Guide for more information.
Edit CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT Files
Follow these steps to check the entries in your files:
1If Windows is not running, type win at the system prompt (c:\>>) and press Enter.
2Select Run... from the File menu in Program Manager.
Windows displays the Run dialog box.
3In the command line field, type \windows\system\sysedit\ and press Enter.
4Select the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
The standard AUTOEXEC.BAT file is as follows:

5Make any necessary changes in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to match the above file.
If you modify this file yourself, WIN must be the last line in the file. You may enter the commands, except the PROMPT command, in either upper- or lower-case. The $p$g in the PROMPT command must be lower-case.
6Select the CONFIG.SYS file.
The standard CONFIG.SYS file is as follows:

7Make any necessary changes in your CONFIG.SYS file to match the above file.
If you modify the file yourself, do not change the order of the first two lines.
8Select Save from the File menu to save the changes.
9Select Exit from the File menu to exit SYSEDIT.

Install Toshiba Card Manager
To install Toshiba Card Manager, follow these steps:
1If Windows is running, exit Windows.
2Remove any diskette from the external 3 1/2" diskette drive and insert the Toshiba Card Manager diskette.
3Type a: and press Enter.
4Type install and press Enter.
Install adds the Toshiba Card Manager files to the C:\PCMPLUS3 directory and prompts you to run PCMSETUP. Refer to the Toshiba Card Manager User's Guide for more information on running PCMSETUP.
Your Toshiba T3600CT computer should now be reconfigured to its original factory settings, although you may notice some minor visual changes.
