Reconfiguration Guide

Your Toshiba Computer comes configured with software pre-installed on the hard drive. In the event you need to reinstall your software, the following information can be used as a guideline to reconfigure your computer to its original factory setup.

IMPORTANT: To reconfigure your computer you must create installation diskettes for the software
pre-installed on the hard drive. The Master Diskette Creator program creates the installation disks by transferring files, called images, from your hard drive to diskettes. This program was introduced the first time you turned the computer on.

Install MS-DOS

1Insert the MS-DOS Install diskette, Disk 1, into the diskette drive and turn on, or if on, reboot the computer. To reboot, press and hold the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys and release simultaneously.

MS-DOS setup installs MS-DOS on your hard drive while prompting you for information. Simply choose the default settings and let MS-DOS setup do the install, in addition to prompting you for diskette changes.

2Press Enter to accept a default selection.

MS-DOS setup prompts you when the installation is complete. Follow any last instructions to complete the setup.

Install the Toshiba Enhancements

1Insert the Toshiba Enhancements Disk into the diskette drive.

2From the command prompt, type a:setup and press Enter.

3Accept the default selections.

Files are copied onto your hard drive to aid in the activation of your Toshiba computer's special features.

The setup program prompts you when the installation is complete. Follow any last instructions to complete the setup.

NOTE: Use the installation instructions for the version of Windows shipped with your computer. If your computer shipped with Windows 3.1, follow the Windows 3.1 installation. If Windows for Workgroups 3.11 was included, follow those instructions.

Install Windows 3.1

NOTE: Make sure the mouse is connected. If not, attach the mouse.

1Insert the Windows Setup diskette, Disk 1, into the diskette drive.

2From the command prompt, type a:setup and press Enter.

3Accept the default and recommended selections.

Windows starts to install to your hard drive and automatically prompts you for information and when to insert the next diskette.
