Summary: Noteworthy PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter & Windows For Workgroups 3.11
Date: September 29, 1995
Product: As listed
Problem / Issue: Configuration & Installation Procedures
Solution: As listed
Additional Information: None

The following is a result of many hours of testing, and consulting with Microsoft. First of all you must understand that there can be THREE CONFIGURATIONS ON WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS. If you are working with a customer, concerning Toshiba's Noteworthy PCMCIA Ethernet adapter and WFWG's, you must find out what Configuration they are using. The three configurations are as follows:

1) Running Windows for Workgroups (peer to peer support only, w/ MS Windows Network support only)

without Novell or any other network support.

2) Running Windows for Workgroups on a Novell system (without peer to peer support, w/o MS Windows

Network support).

3) Running Windows for Workgroups on a Novell system (with peer to peer support, w/ MS Windows

Network support).

The first two are the simplest to solve. Most of the problems with Windows for Workgroups occur when you try to get the latter support. The following will help solve the installation process of WFWG.

Windows for Workgroups with MS Windows Network support only:

****** NOTE THE FOLLOWING INSTALLATION IS ASSUMING THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE WINDOWS

FOR WORKGROUPS INSTALLED AS A STAND ALONE SYSTEM.******

1) Start Windows for Workgroups from the C:\> prompt, by typing WIN.

2) Go to the Network Group Icon in Program Manager and double click.

3) Once inside the Network Group, double click on Network Setup Icon.

4) Click on the option "Install Microsoft Windows Network", and then the option "No additional network".

5) Click on OK

6) In the network setup click on the drivers button.

7) Click on "Add Adapter".

8) Under the "Select a Network Adapter to Install:", Choose "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter".

9) At this point WFWG's will ask you for a "unlisted, updated, or vendor-provided network driver disk". You

will then insert the "NOTEWORTHY-PCMCIA Adapter for Ethernet" diskette, and click on OK.

10) WFWG's will then display a dialog box showing available Network adapters. There should only be one

"Credit Card Adapter for Ethernet", choose this one, and click on OK.

11) Then back at the Network Drivers windows click on Close.
