Summary: PCMCIA OS/2 2.1 TOKEN RING DRIVERS
Last Update: September 20th 1994
Product: As Listed
Problem / Issue: Installation of Token Ring Drivers in a T4600C
Solution: See below
Additional Information: TSB0239

We have tested IBM OS/2 2.1 with IBM Lan Requester 2.0 on a T4600C with the following PCMCIA Token Ring cards:

IBM PCMCIA Token Ring

Pure Data PCMCIA Token Ring

Thomas Conrad PCMCIA Token Ring

The cards were inserted in the bottom (SOCKET A) PCMCIA slot running at 16 Mbps.

To install the IBM OS/2 2.1 drivers, please follow these instructions:

1. Download PCMOS2TR.ZIP from Toshiba Canada's BBS (905-470-7122).

2. Install IBM OS/2 2.1.

3. Install IBM DOS Lan Requester 2.0 for "IBM Token-Ring Network Adapters".

4. Reboot the computer.

5. Pkunzip the PCMOS2TR.ZIP into C:\PCMCIA directory.

6. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file so that the following lines appear:

DEVICE=C:\OS2\PCMCIA.SYS

DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VPCMCIA.SYS

(We used the PCMCIA.SYS file that was shipped with IBM OS/2 2.1)

7. Edit the CONFIG.SYS so that the last two lines are as follows:

DEVICE=C:\OS2\IBM2SS01.SYS

DEVICE=C:\OS2\ICRMU01.SYS

8. COPY C:\PCMCIA\IBM2SS01.SYS C:\OS2

COPY C:\PCMCIA\ICRMU01.SYS C:\OS2

9. Install the MAC driver and IBMTOKCS.OS2

COPY C:\PCMCIA\IBMTOKCS.OS2 C:\IBMCOM\MACS

COPY C:\PCMCIA\IBMTOKCS.NIF C:\IBMCOM\MACS

COPY C:\PCMCIA\LTG.MSG C:\IBMCOM

COPY C:\PCMCIA\LTGH.MSG C:\IBMCOM

10. Replace the existing IBMTOK.OS2 driver with the following line in the CONFIG.SYS:

DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\IBMTOKCS.OS2
