Subject: Energy Star Computer Program
Under the Energy Star Computer Program, the EPA is encouraging the development of energy-efficient systems and monitors that each consume less than 30 watts of power in the "sleep" mode--the low-power state in which a computer rests when not in use. Systems that meet these requirements will end up saving as much as 1,500 kilowatt hours per year. That translates to a savings of up to $120 per year per system in North America., a potential savings of over $1 billion per year in total.
Toshiba is committed to making the Energy Star Computer Program a success. Using low powered components such as the newly announced 'SL Enhanced 486' Series from Intel, Toshiba can provide low power consumption systems without sacrificing system performance.
To qualify for the Energy Star status, the energy consumption of the models tested can not exceed a total of 60 watts of power because all of our models have built-in monitors. All models are measured at their lowest power consumption mode that include batteries at 100% charge, onboard screen auto-shutoff, CPU running at low speed, and HDD auto-shutoff except for the T6400 series and T6600C series which do not have auto HDD shutoff.
Test equipment: Valhalla Scientific Digital Power Analyzer Model 2102, DeskStation IV.
