Toshiba is pleased to announce a comprehensive plan addressing the upgrade and transition to the long awaited Microsoft Windows 95 operating system. This document details plans for:

Upgrade Coupon Program

Toshiba will offer a complimentary Windows 95 Upgrade Coupon to Customers who purchase any new A Stock Toshiba Notebook between June 24, 1995 and October 24, 1995. To be eligible for the free Windows 95 Upgrade, you must have a legible copy of you invoice from an authorized reseller.

To obtain the upgrade coupon, you can request Document No. #94695 (WIN95 on your telephone keypad) on this AutoFax system. Also, all Toshiba Authorized Resellers will have a supply of the coupon.

To redeem the upgrade coupon, it must be filled out completely and mailed along with a legible copy of your invoice, to the address indicated on the coupon. Phone orders will NOT be accepted. By Microsoft policy, ALL UNITS MUST BE PURCHASED BY OCTOBER 24, 1995. No exceptions are allowed. The legible invoice must show a purchase date between June 24, 1995 and October 24, 1995. By Microsoft policy, ALL COUPONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 24, 1995. No exceptions are allowed. Toshiba will verify the Model Number, Part Number and Serial Number to insure validity. Systems which are already preloaded with Windows 95 are not eligible for the upgrade.

Customers should understand that the upgrade process REPLACES their current operating system with Microsoft Windows 95. The upgrade software checks for a valid copy of Windows 3.X. It then erases and replaces the previous operating system. After the upgrade, the customer will have a valid license for Windows 95 only, but not for the previous operating system.

The coupon upgrade package includes:

1. A BIOS Upgrade. The BIOS Upgrade supports Plug and Play Functionality on newer Toshiba models. THE BIOS UPGRADE MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE UPGRADING TO WINDOWS 95. The following Models are supported:

2. Your choice of Windows 95 on one (1) CD or thirteen (13) Diskettes.

3. Microsofts 128 Page Users Manual.

4. Toshiba Utilities Programs (Hardware Setup, Maxtime, Fn-Esse).

5. Microsoft Windows 95 Certificate of Authenticity (COA) with a unique serial number which the customer must enter during the upgrade installation process.

If you do not qualify for the free upgrade package and you want to acquire the BIOS upgrade for the systems listed above so they can take advantage of Plug and Play functionality, the BIOS is available for download off our BBS (714-837-4408); our CompuServe forum; our Internet Home Page (http://www.toshiba.com); or for the cost of $9.95 (+s&h) from Toshiba Accessories (800-959-4100).

Using Windows 95 on older Toshiba models

The following Toshiba notebooks will work with Windows 95, but will NOT support all of the Plug and Play functions:

Models that have NOT been listed were manufactured long before the advent of Windows 95. It is not recommended that Windows 95 be installed on these models. Toshibas minimum recommended hardware for running Windows 95 is: a 486 processor, 8mb RAM, and 100mb of available hard drive space.

Toshiba Technical Support for Windows 95

Toshiba will provide free technical support ONLY if Windows 95 is bundled with a system or if the customer is eligible for the Toshiba Windows 95 upgrade coupon program. Free support will be available by calling 1-800-999-4273.

Toshiba will not provide free technical support for customers purchasing a Microsoft Windows 95 upgrade retail package and installing it on a Toshiba system. Customers purchasing a Microsoft Windows 95 retail upgrade package and installing it on a pre-Win95 system have two options for technical support:

1.Contact Microsoft for support for free 90 days support on the retail purchase.

2.Contact Toshiba Technical Support at 1-800-511-3300 and obtain technical support at the rate of $2.50 per minute / $40.00 per incident.
