To run Windows 95 on your notebook, Toshiba recommends that you have at least a 486DX processor, 8MB of RAM, and 100MB of free hard disk space. When thinking about Windows 95, there are three categories of Toshiba systems to consider. Please note that any Toshiba models not discussed are considered inappropriate or do not meet the minimum recommendations for a Windows 95 installation.

In the First category are those models meeting Toshibas minimum recommended requirements. These models are: the T1900 Series, the T1910 Series, the T1950 Series, the Portégé T3400 Series, the T4400 Series, the T4500 Series, the T4600 Series, and the T6600 Series.

The Second category consists of models that meet Toshibas minimum and also support Plug and Play functions under Windows 95. These models are: the T2100 Series, the T2105 Series, the T2400 Series, the T2450CT, the Portégé T3600CT, the T4700 Series, the T4800CT, the T4850CT, and the T4900CT.

In the Third and last category are those models that not only meet Toshibas minimum and support Plug and Play functions under Windows 95, they also qualify for Microsofts Logo program for Windows 95. These models include: the T2110 Series, the T2115 Series, the T2130 Series, the T2135 Series, the T2150 Series, the T2155CDS, the Satellite Pro 400 and 405 Series, and the Portégé 610CT.

Version 5.0 of our Plug and Play BIOS is available for models in Categories Two and Three. This BIOS should be installed on the computer before beginning a Windows 95 installation. It is available through our BBS (which can be reached at: (714) 837-4408), our CompuServe forum at GO TOSHIBA, and our PC Support World Wide Web home page at http://www.toshiba.com/tais/csd/support/. The files you need to download are clearly labeled at each source. The BIOS is also available for a small cost through the Toshiba Accessories department at (800) 959-4100.

It is not recommended that you reformat your hard disk before installing Windows 95. Windows 95 can be installed over your existing Windows or Windows for Workgroups configuration.

If you have any questions about your notebooks specifications, you may get a hard copy of them from our AUTOFAX system at (714) 583-3800. Each computer model has a full specification sheet in the Technical Information Guide section of AUTOFAX.
