Existing Software Compatibility with Windows 95

Generally speaking, any DOS or Windows 3.xx software applications that you currently have on your system will run without problems in Windows 95. However, Toshiba recommends that you do not use any specialty utility programs that are not specifically written for Windows 95. If you have specific applications that you think might not work with Window 95, contact your software manufacturer for compatibility information.

Also, Toshiba Utilities System Applications, such as MaxTime, Fn-esse, and Hardware Setup will need to be modified to enable these programs to work properly on your Toshiba computer. A new version of the file HOTKEY.DLL is needed. This file is available either in the archive files containing the new Plug and Play BIOS, version 5.00, or as a self-contained file, from our online sources: our BBS, which can be reached at 714-837-4408; our CompuServe forum at GO TOSHIBA; and our World Wide Web page at http://www.toshiba.com/tais/csd/support. The files you need to download are clearly labeled at each source. HOTKEY.DLL is also available as part of the BIOS package for a small cost from Toshiba Accessories at (800) 959-4100. This BIOS package will support the following series of computers: Satellite Pro 400, Portege 610, T2100, T2110, T2130, T2150, T2400, T2450, T3600, T4700, T4800, T4850, and T4900.

If you purchased a Windows 95 Upgrade package from your local computer store, you will need to install the Toshiba Upgrade diskette kit for Windows 95 to allow your Toshiba Utilities to function properly.

New systems made by Toshiba which have Windows 95 as the operating system will already have current versions of our utilities, and will not need to be modified.
