Creating Master Diskettes of Windows 95 and Bundled Software
If your computer came preinstalled with Windows 95, there are two separate disk creator programs: Microsofts Create System Disks and Toshibas Master Disk Creator.
Microsofts Create System Disks program will create only one set of Windows 95 diskettes. You will be prompted to start the program and create these diskettes when you turn on your system for the very first time. You can create the diskettes then, or wait until later. When you use Microsofts program, you should have 31 blank high density diskettes available. The diskettes may be either formatted or unformatted, as the program will format them for you. After Microsofts program finishes making the diskettes, the archive files used to create them will be removed from your hard drive. To use Microsofts program and create your Windows 95 diskettes after the first time your system is powered on, click on the Microsoft Create System Disks icon on the Windows 95 Desktop and then follow the instructions on your display. If you have a problem while running the program, try reformatting the diskettes first. To format a floppy disk in Windows 95 click the right mouse button on the My Computer icon and then click on Format.
The Toshiba Master Disk Creator program will create diskettes for all of the Toshiba-specific software that was preinstalled on your hard drive. You will need formatted high density diskettes for this program. The number of diskettes needed will vary according to the configuration of your system. To create the Toshiba diskettes, click on the Toshiba Master Disk Creator icon on the Windows 95 Desktop, and then follow the instructions on the display.
If you installed Windows 95 on your computer, the Toshiba Master Disk Creator program will be the only method available to create backup system diskettes, and then only of Toshibas own software and your previous versions of DOS and Windows. The program can be found in the Toshiba Utilities program group.
